“Identity politics are becoming less important since culture’s being blended into one big thing, especially in younger people. Kids are starting to dress the same, listen to the same music. I look at their Tumblrs and they’re all into the same things.” — Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick (via pitchfork)

We’re Aiming at You.
No, that isn’t a real gun. Yes, in just under 5 hours Dan will pick Ryan and I up in order to make our mid-morning flight to San Francisco. Yes, we are going on a West Coast run, with a handful of new songs. No, we will not be making our next record with Prince. Whoever told you that is a liar. Yes, we are making a full-length. No, it will not be a dubstep, trap, orangle-blossom step, metal or acoustic record. From what we’ve demoed, it sounds, very…complex. Dan is coming up with sounds that make it hard to even focus. It’s fucking…nuts. I haven’t really dug into the batch of recordings he’s made, but our first round—which will be played at every show—is a nice jump-off point for a band who has yet to be labeled under a genre—yes this is disconcerting—and makes me think, “fuck it.” Why not make a record that pushes all of our influences into the realms we wished they should’ve gone to?
My thoughts exactly.
Here’s where we’ll be.
1-17: San Francisco, at Rickshaw Stop w/ The Knocks
1-18 Los Angeles, at The Echo w/ Warships
1-20 San Diego, at The Griffin w Social Club
1-21 Hollywood, at Bardot Hollywood w/ Robert Delong

cyanidebliss asked: Holy crap! You guys were in Philly?! I'm actually upset that I only found out about you the other day now. I'm going to try to gather a bunch of friends if you come around here again because your sound is lovely and I'm excited over the news of an album!! I don't even have a band fully formed but all of you are a great inspiration and I wish you luck! (PS: Tom writes like a pro; it's like he's talking to the reader)

We are coming back to philly. We need as many people as possible to get out there so spread the word! Thanks! http://www.songkick.com/concerts/14834019-gemini-club-at-kung-fu-necktie
